Planning Your Trip

Steamboat Bay is located on remote Noyes Island in Southeast Alaska, about 90 minutes from Seattle via Ketchikan. From Ketchikan, guests travel by chartered floatplane directly to the lodge.

Our team meets you at Ketchikan International Airport and assists with luggage and transfers. From there, a short floatplane flight brings you to the lodge’s private dock.

Packages typically include lodging, guided fishing, meals, fish processing, fishing gear, outerwear, boots, open bar service, and transportation between Ketchikan and the lodge. Airfare to Ketchikan, fishing licenses, gratuities, and select upgrades are not included.

Yes. Guests age 16 and older must have a valid Alaska fishing license, and a King Salmon stamp if targeting Kings. Our team assists with the process prior to arrival.

Summer temperatures typically range from 50 to 70 degrees, with changing coastal conditions. We recommend layered clothing, casual lodge wear, and comfortable shoes. Fishing gear and outerwear are provided. See our packing guide for additional information.

Yes. Many guests choose to spend additional time in Ketchikan or elsewhere in Southeast Alaska before or after their stay.

Fishing Experience

The waters around Steamboat Bay are known for King Salmon, Silver Salmon, halibut, lingcod, and several species of rockfish. Availability varies by season.

Fishing limits are set by the State of Alaska and the International Pacific Halibut Commission and may vary by species and season. Please refer to our Fish Chart and Limits page for current guidelines.

Days begin with breakfast before heading out on the water with your guide. Fishing typically includes morning and afternoon sessions, with the option to return to the lodge. Evenings are spent enjoying dinner, drinks, and time together. Sample Itinerary

Most boats accommodate up to four guests, allowing for a more personalized and comfortable experience.

Steamboat Bay is located just minutes from some of Southeast Alaska’s most productive fishing grounds, allowing you to spend more time fishing and less time traveling.

No. We provide all rods, reels, tackle, bait, boots, and outerwear. You are welcome to bring personal gear if you prefer.

Waters around Steamboat Bay are generally more protected than open ocean areas, but conditions can vary. Guests prone to motion sickness may wish to consult their doctor prior to travel.

Lodge & Amenities

Steamboat Bay accommodates up to 24 guests across The Lodge and The Residence, both handcrafted by local artisans. Rooms feature private bathrooms, comfortable bedding, and views of the surrounding water and forest.

Yes. Guests enjoy an open bar with wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages throughout their stay.

Gratuities are at your discretion. Many guests choose to tip guides and staff separately based on their experience.
